Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Family Safeguarding team in the North East. This role is essential in supporting children, young people, and families through safeguarding and intervention services. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify needs, risks, and strengths.
  • Develop and implement effective safeguarding plans to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Work collaboratively with families, multi-disciplinary teams, and partner organisations to provide holistic support.
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and families, promoting inclusion and cultural sensitivity.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and development activities to continually enhance professional skills.
  • Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns or emergencies, providing guidance and support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker status (e.g., HCPC registration or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in family safeguarding or related social work practice.
  • Strong understanding of child protection processes and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage diverse communities.
  • Commitment to values of equality, diversity, and inclusion in professional practice.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Resilience and adaptability in managing complex and sensitive cases.

Day-to-Day

  • Carry out home visits and engage with families to build trust and offer support.
  • Attend case conferences, safeguarding meetings, and multi-agency planning sessions.
  • Coordinate with schools, healthcare providers, and other professionals to promote consistent care.
  • Monitor and review safeguarding plans regularly to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Document all interactions and decisions accurately to inform ongoing case management.
  • Support families in accessing community resources and services to enhance well-being.
  • Contribute to team meetings and share knowledge to improve service delivery.
