Employment Solicitor / Barrister / CILEX Lawyer

£55 per hour | 3-Month Initial Contract | Hybrid Working | Local Authority

Are you an experienced Employment Lawyer looking for a flexible contract role where you can make an immediate impact within a respected local authority?

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) of England and Wales with a current practising certificate and strong employment law expertise. Experience working within a local government setting is highly desirable.

The Role

Joining a welcoming and collaborative legal team, you will provide expert employment law support across a diverse range of matters, helping the organisation navigate complex workforce issues with confidence and professionalism.

Key responsibilities include:

✅ Managing Employment Tribunal cases on behalf of the Council from start to finish

✅ Liaising with ACAS regarding Early Conciliation matters

✅ Drafting ET3 responses and other tribunal documentation

✅ Representing the Council and providing advocacy at selected hearings

✅ Delivering practical, commercially focused employment law advice across a broad range of employee relations matters

✅ Supporting HR and management teams with ad hoc employment law queries

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) in England and Wales
• A current practising certificate
• Significant employment law experience
• Previous Employment Tribunal case management experience
• Strong drafting, advocacy and advisory skills
• The ability to work independently whilst managing a varied caseload
• Local government experience (highly desirable)

Contract Details

📍 Location: Primarily remote with occasional office attendance by agreement

🏢 Office Base: Reigate

💷 Rate: £55 per hour

📅 Contract Length: Initial 3-month contract

⏰ Hours: 28-36 hours per week, worked across a minimum of 4 days
