EHCP Co-Ordination Manager

Salary: €380 - €400 per day

Role Overview:

The EHCP Co-ordination Manager leads and oversees the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) coordination team within the local authority SEND service. The role is pivotal in ensuring that children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive timely, efficient, and high-quality EHCP assessments and reviews in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice. This leadership role involves managing operational delivery, staff performance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the EHCP coordination team, ensuring effective case management and timely processing of EHCP assessments, plans, and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and other relevant legislation.
  • Develop and implement robust systems and processes for EHCP case management, improving efficiency and quality of service delivery.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure EHCP plans meet statutory requirements and reflect the needs and aspirations of children, young people, and their families.
  • Liaise and collaborate with multi-agency partners including health, social care, education providers, and voluntary organisations to coordinate holistic support for children and young people with SEND.
  • Provide leadership, support, supervision, and professional development opportunities for EHCP coordinators and other team members.
  • Manage resources and budgets related to EHCP coordination services effectively.
  • Respond to complaints, tribunal cases, and complex enquiries, ensuring appropriate resolution and learning from feedback.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and policy development within the SEND service.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice within the team.
  • Prepare and present reports for senior management, elected members, and external agencies as required.
  • Ensure effective communication with parents/carers, children, young people, and professionals to promote transparency and partnership working.
  • Lead on training initiatives related to EHCP processes for internal staff and partner organisations.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in SEND case management, ideally with substantial experience in EHCP coordination or a similar role.
  • Demonstrable leadership and team management skills, including supervision and performance management.
  • Thorough understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and related SEND legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-agency working across education, health, and social care.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with families, professionals, and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in quality assurance and process improvement.
  • Competent IT skills and familiarity with case management systems.
