Adults - Occupational Therapist
Occupational Therapist - Adult Social Care
Surrey County Council | East & West Surrey
36 hours per week | Hybrid working | 2 days in the office
Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a varied adult social care role where you can make a genuine difference to people's independence and quality of life?
We're recruiting Occupational Therapists to join Surrey County Council, working across East and West Surrey. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary environment, managing a varied caseload while helping adults remain safe, independent and well within their own homes.
The role offers hybrid working, with just 2 days per week in the office, alongside community visits and home working.
The role
You'll manage a varied adult social care caseload of approximately 20-30 cases, completing assessments and developing practical, strengths-based solutions tailored to each individual.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions
- Completing moving and handling assessments and reviews
- Carrying out equipment and Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) assessments
- Assessing for and arranging Technology Enabled Care (TEC)
- Prescribing and ordering appropriate equipment to support independence
- Working with individuals, families, carers and care providers to identify the right solutions
- Promoting a strengths-based approach, helping people maximise their independence and wellbeing
- Contributing to duty cover
- Working collaboratively with Occupational Therapy colleagues and wider multidisciplinary teams
- Attending MDT and OT team meetings
- Maintaining accurate and timely case records and ensuring data protection requirements are met
What could a typical day look like?
No two days are exactly the same.
You might start your day reviewing new referrals before visiting someone at home to understand how they're managing day-to-day. You could then recommend equipment, explore adaptations or TEC solutions, liaise with family members and care providers, and work alongside colleagues to develop a practical plan that enables the individual to remain safely at home.
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to duty work and collaborate with colleagues across the wider service.
What we're looking for
We'd love to hear from Occupational Therapists who have:
- Adult social care experience
- Local authority experience
- Experience undertaking OT assessments and interventions
- Strong knowledge of moving and handling
- Experience completing equipment and DFG assessments
- A strengths-based and person-centred approach
- The ability to confidently manage a varied caseload
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills
- Good-quality and timely case recording
Experience using LAS would be beneficial, but it isn't essential.
Why consider this opportunity?
This role offers the chance to use your OT expertise in a practical and meaningful way, supporting adults to achieve greater independence and continue living safely in their own homes.
You'll benefit from:
✓ 36-hour working week
✓ Hybrid working, with 2 days per week in the office
✓ Opportunities available across East and West Surrey
✓ A varied caseload of approximately 20-30 cases
✓ Collaborative multidisciplinary working
✓ The opportunity to make a visible difference to adults within the community
